1. What's Happening With Me
After my first month here in Durango my life is starting to settle down a bit, in a good way. The boxes are almost completely unpacked and new furniture is beginning to fill some of the empty spaces. I'm also planning on living as lightly as possible, which for me means limited "stuff and clutter", but what is here needs to pleasing and comfortable. That's the intention.
After dealing with some back issues brought on by the physical move, and no doubt by the stress of all the quick decisions leading up to getting here, my sense is the major processing is about done and the physical issues are just almost healed.
It helps that I made a decision to get all the support I needed to take care of myself and feel good. One of those supports is returning to having regular massage again. Plus there are some wonderful natural healing resources here in this area. Later today I'm heading down the road to Pagosa Springs to sample their famous array of healing hot springs for the first time.
It looks like I'm also getting back into the rhythm of sending this newsletter on some kind of regular basis again. At this point I'm planning on publishing two issues each month, to be sent on the first and third weekends. Although there will often be guest articles & exercises, you can expect to also see new writings from me as well.

"Fearless in the Field of All Possibilities"
by Max Wellspring © 2006
In any given moment we find ourselves at a variety of crossroads. These myriad choice points that we have to deal with in our daily lives are sometimes mundane, sometimes easy and joyful, and sometimes more challenging or even anxiety producing. But lately, when I talk to clients and colleagues, what many people are talking about is a different sense that they are actually at a major "life-defining" crossroads. I am feeling it myself. For one person it may involve taking their business to another level, for another it may mean leaving a job that no longer works or it may involve taking advantage of a new job offer. For others, their life-defining moment is more on the personal level: finding the courage to leave a relationship or start a new one. Moving house or taking the leap to move across the country are other choices that people are facing. In response to the wars that are playing out on the world stage, some folks are inspired to be a force for peace in a powerful way.
Whatever the story, the sense is that what is going on is "BIG". Something is being called forth at this juncture of the life journey and, once you answer the call, what most of us are feeling is that life will not be the same.
However, there is an initial stage of being at a life-defining crossroads when you are not sure what to do yet. Inspired action steps have not revealed themselves. One of my colleagues calls this the "empty bowl place". From my experience, it is a stage of your journey when it would be best to make friends with the Unknown rather than being afraid or feeling stuck. But then the question is: "How do you actively court the Unknown without going into panic or fear?"
From experience I know that trying to force an outcome at this stage never works. In the "empty bowl place" or what I am calling "the field of all possibilities", what's really going on is the opportunity for a new level of creativity that I often talk about in my newsletters. It's a level of conscious creation. At this creative level, you have the confidence to know that you are not at the whim of outside circumstances and random events. Events can be consciously guided by your intentions because you know that intention is at the heart of the creative process. When you decide to create consciously, you know that when you set your intentions clearly and specifically you start something in motion. Next, you take responsibility for your feeling states so that you are in emotional alignment with your intentions, banishing any sense of worry, concern or doubt. You know that it is essential to continue feeling good about your intention. Finally, you have the courage to let go of trying
to control the outcome. You allow the Universe to deliver what you want in right timing as you have envisioned it...or you trust that an even better outcome will emerge. With gratitude, you are on the lookout for the synchronicities and confirmations that your intention is coming true. You take inspired actions without trying to push to make things happen. The Universe will meet you more than half way because you are in a co-creative relationship and it's a feedback loop. As Deepak Chopra would say, you have the opportunity to become like "an artist working with the raw materials of life. Co-creating with Source Energy, your mind will begin to grasp what it means to have all of time and space at our disposal."
Chopra goes on to outline ways to embody the characteristics of successful co-creative people (possibilities 1 through 6 listed below). I have listed them here along with my comments and some suggestions of my own for mastering how to be fearless in the field of all possibilities.
1) Don't be attached to the past and how things turn out. Instead be cognizant of the present opportunities around you. Appreciate what's so in the moment.
2) Adapt quickly to mistakes. Rather than turning a setback into some judgment about you, the situation or somebody else, feel your feelings of disappointment and be open to what you have learned from it. Seeming challenges that arise from our fears can be pivoted into opportunities for growth.
3) Be alert to tiny signals. (The turning points of life often arrive as small signals at first.) Learn to see meaning in chance events.
4) Cultivate a good connection between your mind and body. Holistic self awareness will serve you as a way to track and monitor your progress.
5) Be flexible with embracing ambiguity. Transformation is sometimes a messy process. Having that awareness will mean you don't hold unrealistic expectations for yourself or circumstances.
6) Be patient and trust the Universe to deliver results. I know "being patient" is hard for some folks, but encourage yourself to relax. Have the intention to receive. Receiving, like giving, is another aspect of the flow of the Universe.
7) Take fabulously good care of yourself. Nurture your body, mind and spirit with healthy food, exercise and rest. Otherwise you won't have the bandwidth to accomplish your intentions.
8) Make decisions in alignment with your values. Then you are never second guessing yourself.
9) Honor yourself. Learn that "no" can be a complete sentence. It's a healthy way to establish boundaries if there are those who are asking more of you than you can handle, especially at a time when you are figuring out major life decisions. By learning to say "no" more often, when you say "yes" to your life decisions, it will be more meaningful.
10) Be discerning about the company you keep. It is important to receive validation from people whose view of reality matches your own. Receiving validation and encouragement from like-minded individuals grounds you and makes it more likely that you will be able to trust your connection to your own inner guidance. Negative people deplete your energy. Affirm each day that you are going to meet wonderful, inspiring people. Successful creatives know the value of support that they can count on. 11) Take time to go within for meditation or quiet self reflection. Just 2 to 5 minutes will do. It is a great way to set the tone at the start of your day and to decompress at the end of your day. You could also try taking brief 5 minute breaks throughout the day. Just taking a private moment to close your eyes and follow the way the breath moves in and out of your body is a wonderful way to calm the mind and center yourself. If you are really activated, try listening to this month's energy corner meditation. Visit the Energy Corner information. http://www.thewellspringsolution.com/energycorner.htm
12) See each day as a chance to begin again and create what you want. Be deeply appreciative of what life brings and don't waste energy on any regrets. Your self worth and self esteem is vitally important. You were born to create consciously. Be in the moment. You can truly create your day as you envision it. Affirm each day: "I begin Now!"
These are twelve strategies for fearlessly facing the unknown and embracing possibility. But, if you are like me, you will want to keep it simple at first. So I suggest that this month you pick one strategy that speaks to you most and make it a part of your life. See what happens.
With these strategies in mind, the time is now to know that what is being called forth at any life-defining crossroads is to be the "author of your life". I know it can feel scary or intimating. But, if you face the unknown in this way, I believe you will find that you have answered the call to become empowered. Wielding your co-creative power consciously, you can trust the outcome of your intentions. Even when events unfold unpredictably, you either already know or you find ways to learn the tools and the perspective to meet them. Again, as Deepak Chopra says, what you then discover is that you easily get what you want through your own internal process. "The adventure is to uncover the creative solution that most appeals to you." When you understand this, you are not only fearlessly moving through the field of all possibilities, but you have Source Energy as your co-pilot. So fasten your seat belts. This crossroads just may be the portal to the experience of a life time. Yee Haw !!
Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing,
there is a field. I'll meet you there. ~ Rumi
